You\u2019ll have 16 inches less in width in a queen-size bed than you would in a king.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have a very small bedroom, a queen-size bed is still sizable enough to cramp your space. According to Sherri Monte, co-owner of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/elegantsi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elegant Simplicity<\/a>, an interior design and professional home organizing firm in Seattle, ideally you should aim to have at least 26-30 inches on either side of the bed and 30-36 inches between the foot of the bed and a wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis not only allows for enough space that you don\u2019t feel cramped when getting in or out of bed, but it also allows ample room to layer in decorative accents or nightstands that feel like the correct proportions,\u201d explains Monte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other things to consider are where additional key elements in the room are located such as a closet, window, or door, Monte reminds. \u201cThese will all play a role in your furniture layout, what you need from your bedroom, and in how large of a bed you can have in a particular space,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before investing in a new mattress, it&#8217;s also important to make sure you have the space to fit the mattress size. The minimum recommended room size for full-size mattress is 10 feet by 10 feet, while the minimum recommended room size for queen-size mattresses is 10 feet by 12 feet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, will a queen bed fit in a 10 by 10 room? While it generally can, it&#8217;ll be a bit tight and may not be the most comfortable setup. If you&#8217;re a solo sleeper considering a queen-size mattress but your bedroom is on the smaller side, you may want to rethink that choice and go with a full-size bed so that your space isn&#8217;t too cramped.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Number of sleepers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Deciding between a queen mattress and a full mattress can also come down to how many sleepers are going to be snoozing on the bed. If you\u2019re sleeping alone, the decision may be based more on room size and budget, but if you\u2019re sleeping with a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva.com\/blog\/common-couples-sleep-problems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">partner<\/a>, kids, or pets, you\u2019ll want to factor them into your mattress decision as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A traditional twin mattress measures 38 inches wide and 75 inches long.
