Keep reading to find out how to put together the ideal morning routine for you.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Should you wash your face in the morning?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s get right down to the nitty-gritty. You washed your face right before hopping between the sheets\u2014is it actually necessary to do it again once you wake up? Not necessarily, according to Buldini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvening cleansing is the most important, to ensure the skin and body have time to reset and repair while we sleep,\u201d she says. \u201cBe mindful to get an efficient cleanse, so actives and nourishing products can fully penetrate pores and treat skin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there are some times when cleansing your face first thing in the morning is actually important too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using actives like retinol in your evening&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva.com\/blog\/how-to-wake-up-refreshed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skincare routine<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s imperative to fully cleanse off in the morning to protect skin from additional sun sensitivity,\u201d Buldini says.&nbsp;<sup>[1]<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Getting in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva.com\/blog\/morning-workout-good-for-sleep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">morning workout<\/a>. \u201cA few splashes of lukewarm water and the reapplication of serum, moisturizer, and SPF are important to reset the skin without over-cleansing throughout the day,\u201d she recommends.&nbsp;<sup>[2]<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Depending on your skin type, how should you wash your face in the morning?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your specific skin type plays a major part in your specific skincare routine both day and night. \u201cEveryone\u2019s skin type is different and can even change due to medications, seasonal changes, and stress,\u201d Buldini says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should you wash your face in the morning? Here\u2019s a breakdown by skin type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dry skin<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>People with dry skin can typically skip the morning cleanse. Buldini cautions that if you have dry skin, it\u2019s important not to strip it of necessary oils.&nbsp;<sup>[3]<\/sup>&nbsp;\u201cThat would create damage and more dryness,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Oily skin<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have oily skin, you may benefit from both a morning and evening cleanse and exfoliation \u201cto remove excess oils,\u201d says Buldini.&nbsp;<sup>[4]<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Combination skin<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Oily&nbsp;<em>and<\/em>&nbsp;dry? Buldini recommends combining a hydrating cleanser with slight exfoliation to remove dehydration and clogging.&nbsp;<sup>[5]<\/sup><a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How often should you wash your face?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to keep from drying out skin, a true morning wash is usually unnecessary. Buldini recommends focusing on washing your skin in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Come morning, \u201cIt can be as simple as a few splashes of lukewarm water to wake you up and give a refresh before applying serum, moisturizer, and SPF,\u201d she says.<a><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to choose the best morning facial cleanser<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to cleansing your face in the morning, opting for a gentle cleanser like a cream, balm, or micellar water is typically a safe bet.
