1. Deep clean the bedroom<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When the room is clear and empty, the very first thing you should do is a good, deep clean of the space<\/a>, says Molnar. Also, since the room is completely vacant at this point, it\u2019s a wise idea to do any painting<\/a> if need be, she adds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whip out your measuring tape because it\u2019s time to get your measurements<\/a> straight before you bring anything into the room. Taking a proper survey of the room, which includes measurements and photos, is extremely important, says Molnar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One essential measurement you should take before moving in? Be sure to measure the door frames to ensure that your furniture fits, which can help you avoid a big headache later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Get inspired<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Head to Pinterest or flip through your favorite magazines and search for ways you\u2019d like to decorate your new bedroom space<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPut together a mood board,” recommends Molnar. “This will help later on when deciding what to purchase for the room.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will make shopping so much easier, and you can establish a theme or color palette before making all those purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Install window treatments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInstall window treatments, especially if you require privacy or blackout window treatments,\u201d Molnar advises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Address electrical needs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before moving in, also get an idea of any electrical needs that should be addressed, suggests Molnar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This can include installing a ceiling fan<\/a>, replacing a chandelier, or, if the home you\u2019re moving into doesn\u2019t have central air, installing an air conditioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
