A full-size mattress<\/a> (54 inches by 75 inches) is affordable and fits well in small spaces such as apartments or guest rooms, according to Harris. She also says it\u2019s generally easier to move than larger beds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the cons are that it\u2019s too narrow for most couples to sleep comfortably long-term, \u201cespecially if either partner moves a lot during sleep,\u201d says Harris. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Queen-size mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A queen-size mattress<\/a> (60 inches by 80 inches) \u201cstrikes a great balance between space and cost,\u201d Harris says. \u201cIt\u2019s roomier than a full-size, making it a good fit for most couples, even in slightly smaller bedrooms. It offers enough space for most people without being too big or expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then there are some cons to consider. For taller<\/a> or larger individuals<\/a>, or couples who like a lot of personal space while sleeping, a queen may feel a bit cramped, notes Harris. \u201cIf you move around a lot in your sleep, you might find it less comfortable than a larger bed,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

King-size mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A king-size mattress<\/a> (76 inches by 80 inches) is perfect for couples who really value personal space or share their bed with kids or pets, Harris says. \u201cIt\u2019s super spacious, which means you can both stretch out without disturbing each other,” she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are some drawbacks. \u201cA king-size bed needs a large bedroom to fit into and they can be expensive,” explains Harris. “Moving or setting up a king mattress can also be a challenge, especially if you don\u2019t have a lot of extra help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

California king mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A California king mattress (72 inches by 84 inches) is ideal for taller people, Harris says, giving them extra length to stretch out. \u201cIt also feels luxurious and spacious without being as wide as a king, which can be perfect for couples who don\u2019t need quite as much width but want the extra length,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
