There are several different types of storage beds you can consider. One of the most common types is a platform storage bed, which sits on a solid base and has built-in pull-out drawers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another one is the ottoman storage bed, which is a bed that includes hydraulics that help lift the base, revealing a sizable storage compartment underneath. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also drawer storage beds, which have drawers that can be opened from multiple sides of the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, you\u2019ll need to think through certain features you desire in the storage bed itself. Lynch says the main thing to consider is access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her, some of the questions you’ll want to ask yourself include: What type of access works well for this room? Are you able to access the storage on both sides? One side?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll also need to think about the items you\u2019d like to store within the bed, says Lynch. For example, do you need something specific to be able to fit within the bed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to care for a storage bed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To keep your storage bed in tip-top shape, you can vacuum out the storage compartments regularly to get rid of any dust and debris, check for any loose screws or bolts, and lubricate moving parts if you have a storage bed that uses hydraulics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lynch also suggests regularly taking stock of what you\u2019re stashing in your storage bed and if it\u2019s serving you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe mindful of what is being stored and consider if this is the optimal solution,” she says. “Store things you need less frequently in the areas that are harder to reach and things you need more frequently at your fingertips.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
