He won three U.S. Olympic medals in slopestyle, and after retiring from the sport in January 2023 switched to halfpipe skiing with the hopes of winning another Olympic medal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since embarking on this new journey, Nick has won gold medals at the 2025 X Games Aspen and December 2024 FIS World Cup and a silver medal at the 2025 World Championships.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goepper understands that sleep is a key part of athletic success\u2014and he therefore prioritizes rest, whether he\u2019s at home training or traveling for competition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSleep is paramount to athletic performance,\u201d he says. \u201cI cite it above all else for recovery. Establish a consistent nighttime routine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Incorporating a few relaxing activities into your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva.com\/blog\/10-nighttime-activities-help-relax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wind-down regimen<\/a>&nbsp;can help you fall (and stay) asleep. So, how does Goepper get ready for bed?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy nighttime routine looks like this: clean the kitchen (I love a clean kitchen for the next morning), take a shower, meditate and stretch for 20 minutes on the floor, then read for five to 10 minutes and doze off,\u201d he says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Choose the right mattress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The right mattress, one that supports your specific needs, can help you get better sleep. \u201cMy girlfriend and I share a king mattress,\u201d says Goepper, adding that they have the <span class=\"tooltip\" data-id=\"20911\">Saatva Classic<\/span>\u00a0in Firm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI sleep like a starfish, so we need the room,\u201d he says. Get ahead of jet lag<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Goepper shares his biggest sleep-related issue while&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saatva.com\/blog\/how-to-sleep-better-while-traveling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traveling<\/a>&nbsp;is jet lag. \u201cYou have to immediately adjust to the time zone you are traveling to,\u201d he says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there are many jet lag hacks out there, Goepper says what\u2019s worked best for him is actually very simple: \u201cJust stay up until the sun goes down and get up when the sun gets up and you will be OK.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Prioritize comfort while traveling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure a more comfortable sleep environment while traveling, Goepper has a few tips. He usually stays in apartments rather than hotels and will look for extra pillows, light candles, and move or hide decorations to create a relaxing environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI even move furniture around sometimes,\u201d he says. \u201cI like a nice open space to stretch in the living room, so I am anti-coffee table.
