Minnesota’s Dawn Hoins Wins Saatva’s $15,000 Sleep Sanctuary Giveaway

On May 19, 2025, Saatva celebrated a milestone, unveiling its role as the Official Mattress & Restorative Sleep Provider of Team USA and the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games. To commemorate the occasion and honor its 15th anniversary, Saatva also announced the winner of the $15,000 Saatva Sleep Sanctuary Giveaway.

A (Grandmother’s) Dream Come True

The winner, Dawn Hoins, lives just 35 minutes outside of Edina, MN—home to Saatva’s newest Viewing Room, which opened earlier this month with a special celebration featuring Minnesota native and U.S. Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins, Saatva’s first-ever brand ambassador.

A retired teacher and proud grandmother of eight, Dawn is known for creating a welcoming, cozy home where her grandchildren can thrive. From evening traditions of reading stacks of books together before bed to morning rituals of fresh-baked blueberry and chocolate chip muffins, her home is filled with routines that nurture comfort, joy, and togetherness.

When she learned she had won Saatva’s Sleep Sanctuary Giveaway, Dawn was both shocked and grateful. “It took a while for the magnitude of this gift to sink in,” she shared. “I knew I wanted to use my winnings to bless as many people as possible. Since my grandkids are always first on my mind, it seemed like a natural place to start.”

Creating a Sleep Haven for the Next Generation

Dawn chose to dedicate her prize toward building a restorative sleep space for her grandchildren. The new setup includes Saatva’s Bunk & Trundle Mattress, designed with supportive lumbar quilting and gel-infused memory foam, as well as the Saatva Youth Mattress, a dual-sided hybrid that adapts to kids’ needs as they grow. These mattresses will outfit the family’s new bunkbed with a trundle—ensuring that cousins can all sleep comfortably together during sleepovers. Dawn’s focus on creating healthy routines for her grandkids echoes the spirit of Saatva’s Back-to-School Gift Guide, which highlights the best Saatva sleep products that can help kids learn, grow, and thrive.

“Sleep is so important for kids’ health, learning, and performance—whether in school, sports, or just being able to enjoy the day,” Dawn explained. She takes special pride in the fact that her oldest granddaughter, Mya, is a 10-year-old gymnast who looks up to Team USA athletes. That connection feels especially meaningful as Saatva was recently named the Official Mattress and Restorative Sleep Provider of USA Gymnastics and presenting partner of the U.S. Classic, underscoring the vital role recovery plays in the sport. “It’s wonderful that Olympians are promoting healthy habits such as sleep. My granddaughter looks up to them, and seeing the emphasis on recovery is so meaningful.”

A Minnesota Connection

For Dawn, the timing of Saatva’s Minnesota expansion adds an extra layer of excitement. “I was very excited to hear that Saatva was opening a Viewing Room in Minnesota. I’m looking forward to being able to see and feel the quality of their products in person to choose the perfect additions for my home.”

The Edina Viewing Room opening was a proud moment for Saatva, highlighted by the special message from Jessie Diggins, the U.S. Olympic gold medalist cross-country skier and Minnesota native who became the brand’s first official ambassador. Diggins, like Mya’s gymnastics heroes, is a shining example of how great recovery and great sleep are essential to peak performance—a message that resonates deeply with Dawn and her family.

Minnesota winters, Dawn added with a smile, make restorative sleep all the more essential: “After skiing, skating, and playing outside in the snow, there’s nothing better than coming home to a cozy bed and a good night’s sleep.”

A True Sleep Sanctuary

With her new Saatva setup, Dawn looks forward to years of memory-making under one roof—reading bedtime stories, hosting sleepovers, and ensuring her grandkids are rested, recharged, and ready for all of life’s adventures.
