The DTC mattress company’s modern retail experience arrives on the West Coast
Saatva, America’s Smarter Luxury Sleep brand, has opened in San Francisco, California, just in time for national sleep awareness month. The brand chose the vibrant Union Square neighborhood for its first West Coast Viewing Room. The new, immersive 5,900-square-foot space was conceptualized by renowned interior designer Vicente Wolf. Designed to be more than a standard mattress store, Saatva’s new Viewing Room is the ultimate destination for an integrated mattress exploration, education, and modern retail technology experience.

From the moment a visitor enters, the Viewing Room aims to delight the senses. With a neutral color palette, soft lighting, and aromatic fragrance, Saatva San Francisco is designed to be an inviting respite from the city’s bustle. “Given the retail evolution of this San Francisco neighborhood, I chose to celebrate the industrial quality of the showroom’s surroundings, while still maintaining the Saatva spirit of comfort and tranquility,” says designer Wolf. “Sheetrock and exposed pipes combined with soft lighting and elegant appointments create a dreamy environment for the discovery of Saatva's made-to-order, eco-friendly mattresses.”
Wolf, who also designed Saatva's two previous Viewing Rooms, in New York and Washington D.C., put technology front and center in San Francisco. High-definition panels from tech partner Samsung are integrated into the storefront window displays, creating a dynamic backdrop for customers and passersby alike.
Inside the Viewing Room, visitors can use the information kiosks at each bed display, customers can interact with the collection at their own pace, with knowledgeable Sleep Guides on hand to assist and answer questions. In addition to the full lineup of made-to-order mattresses—featuring innerspring, memory foam, latex, hybrid, adjustable air, youth, and crib options—the Viewing Room will offer a first look at Saatva’s latest introduction, the Modern Foam mattress. Saatva’s collection of luxury bedding products will be on display, including the new Organic Velvet Diamond quilt and the Organic Channel Cotton quilt, perfect for staying warm this winter.
Thanks to a partnership with Samsung, the SF Viewing Room is outfitted with the latest displays and state-of-the-art behavior sensing technology to help customers discover, personalize, and build their ideal sleep experience. Each area, from the displays at every bedside to touch-enabled screens, provides a platform to deliver in-depth product information and create a richer discovery experience.
“Samsung’s technology allows us to optimize and automate store campaigns and product information based on real-time integrated data to deliver the content and information that our customers care about most when shopping,” said Rudzin.
The Viewing Room will open just in time for SF residents to get their homes ready for spring and discover a curated selection of best-in-class luxury mattresses and a giftable assortment of eco-friendly and organic bedding products.
