Our Story

When Saatva launched in 2010, the founders wanted to create a different kind of mattress company. “Over the prior thirty or forty years, the mattress industry had developed a terrible reputation,” says Saatva founder and CEO Ron Rudzin. With misleading marketing, overbearing salespeople, and inflated prices, buying a mattress had become a miserable experience.

By adopting an innovative online business model, Rudzin and his cofounders saw how they could make luxury mattress shopping easier for everyone. They could replace the confusing, exhausting environment of the traditional mattress store with 24/7 customer service and a no-pressure home trial. “We wanted to offer the best service and the best products, and treat customers in a way that they hadn’t seen in the mattress industry in my lifetime,” Rudzin says.

Consumers responded, and today Saatva is the internet’s premier luxury mattress and bedding brand. We did it by sticking to a few core principles: Sell a high quality product for a fair price, offer the absolute best customer service, and show respect for our employees, our communities, and our environment. Our Community

What motivates us

Austin Pathways

We believe in supporting the communities where we live and work. In Austin, Texas, where Saatva’s marketing team is based, that means partnering with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) to support low-income residents in subsidized housing. Working with the nonprofit group Austin Pathways, Saatva provides mattresses and bedding to the newly housed, helping them start each day with renewed confidence.

Newcomers High School

Queens, N.Y., where Saatva is headquartered, is the most diverse community in the country, with nearly half of its residents having been born outside the United States. Many of those newly arrived immigrants are young people, who get their educational start at the Newcomers High School in Astoria. Saatva has a long and close relationship with the school, where our CEO serves annually as Principal for a Day. In addition to providing supplies, clothing, and other resources, Saatva staff contributes to career development, hosting students in our corporate headquarters, providing internships and job training, and affording hands-on exposure to the business world.
