Green Initiatives
As a pioneer in the direct-to-consumer mattress industry, being “green” isn’t just a buzzword here at Saatva. It was built into our business model from day one.
Eco-conscious materials that are better for you and the planet
- We are committed to producing safe, high-quality sleep products using eco-conscious materials and sustainable manufacturing practices. Our foams are CertiPUR-US®* certified, meeting strict independent standards for content, durability, and emissions — including VOC levels that fall well below commonly accepted safety thresholds, contributing to a healthier sleep environment
- Mattress covers made from a soft, breathable blend that includes organic cotton grown without chemical insecticides & synthetic fertilizers and treated with Guardin™, a botanical antimicrobial treatment that naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold & mildew
- Recycled steel coils are sourced from post-consumer steel and tempered for maximum durability
- Base panels on our single-sided mattresses are made with REPREVE® recycled polyester which removes four single-use plastic bottles from the waste stream with every Queen mattress made
- We never use fiberglass or toxic chemical flame retardants/barriers in our mattresses, instead we use natural plant-based thistle pulp and organic wool flame retardants
- GOTS®* certified organic & OEKO-TEX® Standard 100* certified bedding free of potentially harmful chemicals
- GOLS* organic-certified natural latex is harvested sustainably to not cause harm to the rubber trees
- We also do not intentionally add PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) to our mattresses or use them in our manufacturing processes. We source our materials from providers that we have vetted to confirm they do not knowingly add PFAS. However, PFAS are commonplace and regularly found in water, among other places, such that Saatva cannot guarantee with 100% certainty that no part of any mattress is exposed to PFAS at any time.
- Our GREENGUARD® Gold* & eco-INSTITUT®* certified latex mattresses meet the highest standards for low chemical emissions, helping to reduce indoor pollutants and the risk of daily exposure to potentially harmful substances like VOCs

Sustainable, energy-efficient factories
- Our New Jersey factory operates a solar-powered factory with 300 kW solar panels
- Produces enough solar power for factory operations and even creates a surplus that’s returned back to the electric grid
- Our factories partner with various recycling companies to recycle all wood, plastic & foam scraps from manufacturing
- Our factories source all their own materials, so we only buy what we use, eliminating wasted backstock
- Our factories practice energy engineering in every aspect of manufacturing to avoid energy surges
Our mattresses are assembled in the U.S. with the best globally sourced materials
- Our nationwide network of factories means on average, our mattresses travel less than 100 miles from the factory to your home, lowering our carbon footprint
- We’ve built a factory & delivery network that brings us within 60 miles of 85% of homes in the continental U.S.
- Our mattresses are made fresh to order, which means we don’t make your mattress until you order it. This also means our mattresses never sit in warehouse storage, further reducing our carbon footprint

Planting trees with Evertreen
- We’ve partnered with Evertreen to plant trees across the globe and employ local farmers through various forest restoration efforts
- To date, we’ve planted 15,500 trees to help offset 13,950 tons of carbon dioxide—follow The Saatva Forest to track our progress!
