Oak Brook has always been synonymous with innovation. That’s why we’re joining the corporate clientele and opening our latest Saatva Viewing Room in this chic Chicago suburb.

Located less than one hour from the CBD, Oak Brook revolves around its sprawling open-air mall, Oakbrook Center, directly across from our latest Viewing Room. But as its name suggests, there’s plenty of nature around too, with a golf course, parks, and walking trails galore. Here’s our guide for what to do in and around Oak Brook, Ill.

Where to eat and drink

Lucca Osteria & Bar

Named after the Italian birthplace of its chef, Lucca Osteria & Bar focuses on homemade, traditional Italian flavors. It serves all the classics like caprese, bolognese, and veal chops, but we recommend the fettuccine carbonara twirled straight from a giant wheel of cheese.

Beatrix

An Oak Brook staple, Beatrix is half coffee house, half restaurant. Stop by in the morning for a perfectly brewed latte along with a fresh-baked honey butter cinnamon roll. Then, come back for dinner where the menu focuses on healthy-ish comfort foods like buffalo cauliflower, vegan tortilla soup, and Faroe Island salmon.

Katy’s Dumplings

Take a short drive from Oak Brook for all your American Chinese food favorites like crab rangoons, wonton soup, and orange chicken. But as the name implies, dumplings are the star of the show here. Try the pork and chive and spicy Chengu dumplings (and order extra of the signature soup dumplings).

Gibson’s

Chicago knows how to do a good steakhouse, and Gibson’s is arguably its best. This special occasion restaurant serves up all the classic steakhouse fare. Indulge in huge wedges of iceberg loaded with blue cheese, giant shrimp cocktail, and massive porterhouse, tomahawk, or T-bone steaks followed by colossal cuts of carrot cake.

Roka Akor

When in search of sushi, this modern Japanese spot has it all. Sure, you’ll find a killer maki roll and the freshest sashimi, but even the pickiest eaters can find something satisfying. Chefs here grill up the world’s most tender Japanese wagyu on robata grills and slow-cook an addictive yuzu miso marinated black cod. If you’re torn, try their omakase menu and leave it up to the chef.
